Maryland Historical Society

Learn how we created “an avalanche of attention”

Founded in 1844, The Maryland Historical Society or MdHS (recently rebranded as Maryland Center for History and Culture) is the state’s premier history center. In its collection are more than 7 million documents, including Francis Scott Key’s original manuscript of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Paisley Green’s marketing efforts generated enthusiastic public support of MdHS’ programs, with museum attendance doubling since 2011.  We increased MdHS’ online traffic by 150% to more than 30,000 unique visitors per month, tripled email list size to 25,000 names, created and wrote the popular History Alive! newsletter and added thousands of new Social Media fans (from 4,000 to more than 23,000) through free and low-cost advertising efforts.

Online fundraising efforts included a crowd-funded Kickstarter campaign, raising over $10,000 in Kickstarter contributions – in mostly $20 increments!

Our PR efforts has generated national and international media attention – click on the Case Study below to see how we did it.
